Oakwood German Pinschers & Manchester Terriers

OUR HOME: visitors are always welcome!!!!

This is my dream - a custom built log cabin (dream fulfilled in 2001).

The great room is the center for all activity in the family. The couch is usually where the dogs are to be found in a big pile snoozing.

Puppies are raised in the middle of the great room/kitchen so they get loads of attention and socialization.

All the dogs are loose in the house when people are at home. There are no kennels or outdoor runs on the property ~ all our dogs are members of the family. We keep our numbers of dogs low so that each can receive plenty of attention and free play time. The rest of the main floor houses the family room, two kids bedrooms, bathroom and laundry room.

The upstairs loft creates the master bedroom suite. This L shaped room under the eaves is cozy, warm and inviting. The dogs love being with their people at night. The youngsters who are still learning about housetraining sleep in the master bedroom in their crates.

When we're away from home the dogs nap in their crates. Currently, there are 4 Manchesters and 6 GP's in the house. The basement is finished on one half and is bright and airy with a walkout (and dog door) to the huge fenced yard.  The finished area of the basement is called the "dog room" used for storage of all our extra crates, ex-pens, whelping equipment.  The dogs can come in and out of the yard through their doggy door in dog room.  During the hot summer months, the dog's are usually found parked on the cool tile floors in the kitchen and dog room and in the cold months they either congregate in the sunlight streaming in from both the French doors or are piled in front of the family room fireplace. They sure are creatures of comfort!

We completed the addition of a family room, outdoor living space/decks in 2004 and have transformed the six acres of farmland into beautiful lawns and gardens.  This transformation from cornfield to a "gentlewoman's farm" continues to be a fun project and waking up in such a beautiful home certainly is a joy.

TESTIMONIALS:

1/17/2005 Audrey wrote: "We thought the experience of talking to a breeder about GP's and seeing your dogs was terrific. You have a nice laid back personality which is why your dogs seemed happy and well adjusted. We have met many breeders at their homes and really came away with the feeling that you are a good breeder and really care about your dogs."

1/3/2005, Velma wrote: "the living area was very clean and all the dogs appeared well cared for. You certainly gave the impression that you love the dogs. You welcomed us, told us to come and visit any time and we did enjoy our visits prior to picking up Lizzie."

1/3/2005, Ron writes: "My own experience with Kimberle Schiff of the Oakwood Manchesters is that she is a real professional in the conduct of her business; and that she goes above and beyond the call of duty for her Manchesters. She pre-qualified me for ownership of a Manchester in a much- appreciated thorough manner. She has followed-up with me and Apollo on a regular, but not over-bearing fashion for 5 1/2 years."

March 2003, Patricia writes: "Since our adoption of Dawn on December 5, you have offered advice and helpful suggestions on her care. Your efforts to keep in contact with us indicate a genuine caring for the welfare of your animals ~ even after adoption. We have an excellent rapport and I have found you to be very friendly and approachable. Dawn's temperament and good health are indicative of breeding excellence. She is the perfect pet in every way."
